BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) -- Registration for the 2025 Make-A-Wish Trailblaze Challenge opens Saturday.
The challenge takes place over two weekends in May (2-4, 16-18), and will feature a 26.3-mile trek along the Pinhoti Trail in Talladega National Forest. The deadline to register is Jan. 29. Hikers will train and fundraise with others across the state for 12 weeks.
There will be free information sessions in Birmingham, Huntsville, Montgomery, and Mobile from Jan. 11-26 where hikers can learn more information.
This year's goal is to raise $1 million to help battle critical illnesses across Alabama. You can sign up by clicking here.
"This is the kind of event that sticks with you long after you’ve finished the hike,” said Elizabeth Tucker, Make-A-Wish Alabama Development Manager and statewide Trailblaze lead. “It’s not just about walking 26.3 miles. It’s about feeling like you’re part of something bigger, something that truly changes lives. You get to see how far you can go and, at the end of the day, you know you’ve made a difference.”
