ONEONTA, Ala. (WIAT) -- Oneonta police announced the arrest of an individual who reportedly was impersonating a police officer Wednesday morning.
Police say the unidentified individual made multiple traffic stops on cars who were traveling around the city. They did not have blue lights or emergency lights, but were using their headlights to stop cars and told people they were an Oneonta police officer.
The suspect was arrested and taken into the custody of the Blount County Jail. Anyone who was stopped or detained by someone who may not have been a legitimate officer should call OPD at 205-625-4351.
