PELHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – On Sunday, the South City Theatre is wrapping up a weekend long event of bringing the best of local productions for adults and children with its Summer Shorts ’24 Series.

Directors Katy Walker and Valerie Brock joined the CBS 42 Morning News on Sunday to talk about the event.

Walker said this is the second time South City has done summer shorts. The first time was in 2021.

“It’s just a way for South City to showcase new directors and new talent to the area,” Brock said.

Each show is 10 minutes, there are five of them. These are family-friendly shows. Friday and Saturday night’s shows saw a sold out crowd.

“It’s really amazing, the shows run from a spy caper to an automated telephone conversation gone wrong, Barbie and Ken, we have the history of television – not the way you would think of it, and a very thought-provoking show about what you might be carrying through life,” Brock said. “Is it weighing you down or is it moving you forward? There’s a great range here.”

Sunday’s show is at South City Theatre in Pelham located at 2969 Pelham Pkwy. Suites J-K. Tickets are $10 and you can find more information here.

“We’ve got a really exciting year coming up,” Brock said. “This is a great way to end season 24.”

Sunday’s show is the last one in the 2024 season. South City Theatre is gearing up for its 25th Anniversary season starting in August.
