Rain returns Friday and this weekend, Strong storms possible on Saturday

Tonight: An upper-level wave will move across the state with a few showers. Lows will be in the lower to middle 40s.

Thursday will be mostly cloudy with a few showers/sprinkles as the upper-level wave moves east of Alabama. An area of high pressure northeast of Alabama will bring east-to-southeast winds across the state making it mild and sending a dry air wedge in from the east. Highs will climb into the upper 50s to lower 60s.

Another upper-level wave will move across Central Alabama on Friday bringing us another round of scattered showers throughout the day. High temperatures will be in the lower 60s.

The weather for the Birmingham Bowl at 2:30 PM will be cloudy with scattered showers. Kickoff temperatures will be in the lower 60s.

Weekend Outlook: The weather pattern will continue to be active into the weekend. Saturday will have scattered showers and a few thunderstorms ahead of a cold front. A few storms could be strong with gusty winds and heavy rain. High temperatures will be in the middle to upper 60s.

The cold front will move through on Sunday with scattered showers and storms in the morning. A few strong storms are possible. Highs will be in the 60s. Rain totals this weekend will be around 1-3 inches.

Next Week's Outlook: Monday will be dry and mild with highs in the 60s. Another cold front arrives on Tuesday with a few showers and highs in the 60s. It will turn cooler on Wednesday with a few showers and highs in the 50s. Thursday and Friday will be sunny, cool, and dry with highs in the 40s to lower 50s.
