BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Firefighters working to put out a house fire in Fairfield recovered a body among the ashes Thursday morning.
The fire was reported in the 6400 block of Court F at approximately 1:24 a.m. By 4:18 a.m., firefighters had found a body. Due to the extent of the burns, there has been no identification made yet.
The Alabama State Fire Marshall’s Office is investigating the cause and origin of the fire.
