BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) -- The Birmingham Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred Wednesday night.
According to Officer Truman Fitzgerald of the BPD, south precinct officers were dispatched to the 200 block of 3rd Avenue South at around 7:35 p.m. At the scene, officers observed an adult male gunshot victim unresponsive in the yard of what police believe is an unoccupied residence.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was at a house with a group of people when an argument occurred, leading to a suspect shooting the victim.
No one is in custody at this time.
Officers are going door-to-door to canvas the area for witnesses.
