Alabama Symphony Orchestra offering 2 holiday performances

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) -- The Alabama Symphony Orchestra will offer two special holiday performances this month.

George Frideric Handel's "Messiah" will be performed on Dec. 20 and 21 in the Jemison Concert Hall at UAB's Alys Stephens Center.

According to the Alabama Symphony Orchestra's website, "This magnificent oratorio has become a fixture of the holiday season, captivating audiences with its iconic Hallelujah chorus and sweeping solos that beautifully convey one of the greatest stories ever told."

The Alabama Symphony Orchestra will perform "A Viennese Celebration" on Dec. 31 in the Jemison Concert Hall. This performance will feature guest soloist Laura Corina Sanders.

The Alabama Symphony Orchestra's website says that this concert will feature lively waltzes, operatic highlights and festive marches.
