GADSDEN, Ala. (WIAT) -- The Gadsden City Council approved a resolution for the Coosa Harbor development project.
According to the city Tuesday, the resolution authorizes a site preparation agreement for the project. The agreement is between the city and Coosa Harbor, LLC.
The city expects the project to bring significant revitalization to the Coosa River waterfront with the hope it generates valuable tax revenue through commercial development. The city-owned property the project will take place on has been undeveloped for over 20 years.
"This isn’t a pie-in-the-sky idea. This is what is happening,” Gadsden Mayor Craig Ford said in a statement. “The Coosa Harbor development is a game-changer for Gadsden, and it will open new doors for economic growth and community development along the Coosa River. This is a true milestone in our city's progress."
