$30 million lawsuit filed on behalf of former Hoover high school football players

HOOVER, Ala. (WIAT) -- The attorneys representing the families of two former Hoover High School football players filed a $30 million lawsuit Monday.

The lawsuit stems from what is alleged as abusive behavior by then-Hoover head football coach Drew Gilmer and then-Hoover defensive coordinator Adam Helms against the minors. The incident was caught on video that circulated over the summer. Gilmer and Helms resigned Aug. 8 -- two days after being placed on administrative leave.

Besides Gilmer and Helms, the lawsuit seeks damages against the Hoover City Board of Education, Hoover City Schools Superintendent Kevin Maddox and Hoover High School Athletic Director Harley Lamey among others. You can read the filing below:
