BLOUNT COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) -- A two-vehicle crash that occurred in Blount County left an Oneonta man dead Wednesday morning, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
Bobby Shirley, 83, was fatally injured around 7:32 a.m. when the Chevrolet Silverado he was driving struck a tractor-trailer. The crash occurred on U.S. 231 about four miles south of Oneonta.
Shirley, who reportedly was not using a seat belt, died at the scene. A 15-year-old passenger in the Silverado was also injured and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Troopers with the ALEA's Highway Patrol Division are investigating the crash.
