Monday: Have the rain gear handy throughout the day as rain showers will be off and on through the day today. Most of the day should be cloudy with an occasional passing shower, but it will not rain all day. Temperatures will rise into the middle 60s.

This Week: Our first wave of widespread rain will be tonight through early Monday with more scattered showers during the second half of our Monday. A cold front will approach the region Monday night, then hit the brakes as it slows to nearly a stall on Tuesday. This will allow for temperatures to remain mild in the 60s on Tuesday, especially the eastern half of the area in front of the cold front. Expect our next round of widespread rain to occur on Monday night through Tuesday early afternoon when showers and a few storms will develop along the front.

We are not expecting a widespread threat for severe weather, but a storm or two could briefly pulse up to severe criteria on Tuesday with any storms that form ahead of the front. This threat will mainly be to our southeast, but we can’t rule out a severe storm in areas closer to Alexander City.
The rain will exit the entire region by early Tuesday afternoon with clouds following in its wake through early Wednesday. Although we return to sunshine Wednesday afternoon, the air will be much cooler. Highs will only be in the middle to upper 40s Wednesday and we’ll all be in the middle to upper 20s on Thursday morning. Dry weather will carry us into the upcoming weekend as temperatures gradually rebound to through the 50s and eventually up to 60° by next Sunday.
