BIRMINGHAM, Ala (WIAT) — A man who was convicted of sexually torturing a 3-year-old girl has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Jeffrey Allan Gable, 54, was sentenced by Judge John England Wednesday morning. In November, he was convicted of sexual torture of a child and first-degree sexual abuse.
In June 2020, police receive a report that Gable had allegedly used a sex toy on a child. After interviewing the victim at the Blount County Children's Center, police subsequently arrested Gable.
In addition to his life sentence, Gable was also ordered to a 20-year sentence on the sexual abuse conviction that will run concurrent to the former sentence.
"Child abuse and child sex abuse in this country is an epidemic," District Attorney Pamela Casey said. "It's a good day when you can put away a bad person for hurting a child."
Gable's attorneys have already filed an appeal for a new trial.
