BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) -- A convicted felon was sentenced to over three years in prison for illegally possessing firearms.
Ro'Daryus Mitchell, 27 , of Center Point, was sentenced to 42 months in prison after pleading guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona.
According to the plea agreement, on May 31, 2023, the United States Marshals Service Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force was looking for Mitchell for arrest warrants for 22 counts of unlawful breaking and entering a vehicle, second degree theft of property, second-degree receiving stolen property, and a probation revocation warrant for violating the state firearms act.
After searching a residence, officers found multiple weapons and ammunition. One of the guns was reported stolen to the Birmingham Police Department on May 25, 2023. A separate weapon was reported stolen to the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office on May 12, 2023.
