FAIRFIELD, Ala. (WIAT) -- A woman was fatally shot in Fairfield on Monday afternoon.
According to Henry Irby with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched around 4:50 p.m. to investigate a report of a person shot in the 400 block of Forest Drive. At the scene, deputies discovered a woman suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Fairfield Fire and Rescue Department personnel pronounced the woman dead.
