
Wednesday: The area of high pressure will move northeast of Alabama on Wednesday sending the old cold front north as a warm front. This will warm Central Alabama up as clouds increase throughout the day. High temperatures will be in the upper 60s.


Wed Night - Thursday: A cold front will move into Alabama Wednesday night and continue into Thursday, Thanksgiving Day. Showers and storms will move across the region overnight into Thursday morning.


There will be a chance for strong to possibly severe storms with gusty winds, hail, and a tornado. The severe storm timing will be between 4 AM and Noon Thursday. SPC has placed Central Alabama in a Level 1/5 Marginal Risk. That means the overall threat is relatively low, but certainly not zero. Make sure you have ways to get alerts to wake you up or let you know if a storm is impacting your Thanksgiving commute. The rain and storms will end Thursday afternoon with lingering clouds and cooler high temperatures in the upper 50s to lower 60s.

Friday: It will turn MUCH cooler on Black Friday with a breezy. Expect plenty of sunshine with highs in the upper 40s. Bundle up if you are going shopping early! Friday night will be clear and cold with lows in the upper 20s.

Weekend Outlook: A reinforcing shot of colder air will arrive this weekend. Saturday will be sunny and very chilly with highs in the upper 40s. Saturday night will be mostly clear and cold with lows in the upper 20s to lower 30s. Sunday will be sunny and chilly with highs in the middle 40s. More cold air arrives Sunday night with lows back down into the lower to middle 20s for Central Alabama. It will be a frigid Iron Bowl at Bryant-Denny.
