HOMEWOOD, Ala. (WIAT) -- A campaign launched by a pro in vitro fertilization group is aiming to get the attention of state lawmakers.

The “IVF made me” campaign is using Alabama IVF families and their stories to showcase the need for IVF treatment,

Earlier this year, the Alabama Supreme Court ruled that frozen embryos, which are used in IVF treatment, are human beings. The decision caused panic throughout the state as some clinics paused services. A bill signed by Governor Ivey shortly after the ruling has provided protection for IVF patients and providers.

Fight for Alabama Families, a grass roots organization, says that lawmakers need to do more.

It wasn’t easy for the Schuhmann family to become a family. They endured 3 miscarriages and years of fertility problems.

“We consulted with our doctor, and she suggested IVF,” remarked Katie Schuhman.

Through in vitro fertilization the Schuhmans welcomed son Baker to the family. They are sharing their story as a part of the "IVF Made Me" campaign. The goal is to use stories like theirs to show lawmakers how important IVF treatment can be for families.

CBS 42 political analyst Steve Flowers says he doesn’t believe there will be future opposition to IVF treatment.

“I don’t think its going to come back up, its nothing any republican wants to fool with because very few republicans agree with Judge Parker's opinion, and Trump very quickly disowned it and said this has nothing to do with my campaign,” said Flowers.
