Tonight: a cold front will move into Central Alabama. This will bring us scattered showers and thunderstorms. A few storms could be strong with gusty winds and heavy rain. It will be mild and muggy with lows in the lower to middle 60s.


Tomorrow: The cold front will move east of Alabama. We will have showers and storms into the afternoon. A few storms could be strong with gusty winds and heavy rain.


There is a Level 1/5 Marginal Risk for severe storms with damaging winds for most of central Alabama. It will be mild, muggy, and breezy with highs around 70.

A second cold front will track across the state on Wednesday, bringing a reinforcing shot of colder air to the region. It will be mostly sunny and breezy. High temperatures will reach the middle 60s in the morning and fall to the 50s by the evening.


High pressure will be east of Alabama on Thursday and Friday, drawing down the coldest air of the season across the Birmingham area. It will be sunny, with high temperatures in the 50s each day and lows in the lower to middle 30s. Expect patchy frost on Friday morning, so prepare to protect any plants.




Weekend Outlook: The area of high pressure will move over Alabama on Saturday, bringing plenty of sunshine. We will start the day in the 30s with patchy frost. The afternoon will stay cool, with highs in the 50s. The high pressure will move east of Alabama on Sunday, bringing back some warmer air. It will be sunny, with highs in the middle 60s.
