TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) -- A Greensboro man was convicted on conspiracy to steal high-end motor vehicles, the U.S. Department of Justice announced Monday.
Jamarus Hoskins, 29, was convicted of one count of conspiracy to commit interstate transportation, possession or sale of stolen motor vehicles and three counts of interstate possession, receipt or sale of stolen motor vehicles.
A jury convicted him of being the ringleader of an organized car-theft group who stole high-end vehicles from private citizens and car dealerships, according to U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona. Hoskins reportedly directed members of the conspiracy to steal vehicles and replace the vehicle identification numbers with fake VINs. The vehicles were then sold for cash.
