Tonight: Plenty of rain and a few thunderstorms are expected. Some of the rain could be heavy. Lows will be in the 50s.

The cold front will track across Alabama Thursday morning, and the rain will end by midday. Rain totals will be around 1 to 2 inches, helping with the drought. The clouds will slowly clear out in the afternoon making it partly cloudy and breezy. Areas of east Alabama could stay cloudy all day. It will be a more seasonal day with high temperatures in the lower to middle 60s.

High pressure will build across the Southeast U.S. on Friday. It will become sunny, less humid, and comfortable with high temperatures in the middle to upper 60s. Friday night will be clear and chilly with lows in the upper 30s to lower 40s. The weather will be good for the high school football playoff games.

Weekend Outlook: High-pressure builds across the Deep South. We will be sunny Saturday and Sunday with high temperatures in the upper 60s to lower 70s. It will be chilly in the mornings with lows in the 40s.

Tracking the Tropics: Potential Tropical Cyclone 19 is located in the central Caribbean with a cluster of thunderstorms. Conditions favor development, and a tropical depression or storm (Sara) could form in the next 12 hours. It will move into the western Caribbean and meander there through the weekend. A strong trough of low pressure and a cold front will move across the U.S. next week. This will pull the system north and northeast into the southeast Gulf of Mexico. Models are trending on a hurricane tracking toward South Florida during the middle of next week. It is too early to pinpoint a possible landfall, if any. This will be something to watch. NHC is giving this system a High chance of developing.
