BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Tommy Tuberville will be seeking another term to represent Alabama in the U.S. Senate.

Tuberville, who was elected in 2020 after defeating incumbent Doug Jones, confirmed to CNN's Manu Raju on Tuesday that he would be running for office again in 2026.

“Yeah, I’m running," Tuberville said. "Yeah, I’m getting on up there. I don’t know how many more times I’ll run, but I enjoy it."

Tuberville, who was the head coach of the Auburn Tigers from 1999 to 2008, has long been an ardent supporter of President-elect Donald Trump and was even rumored to be in the running for Secretary of Transportation in his administration, but his team confirmed to Reuters that he would remain in the Senate.

Tuberville notably held up hundreds of military promotions for nearly a year during President Joe Biden's term over his objection on its abortion policies, a stance which he held for nearly a year before ending in December 2023.

In the wake of Trump's re-election and his upcoming second term in office, Tuberville has spoken about a new day for the country with him back in power.

“I want to find out what it’s like to be in the majority," Tuberville said. "When you’re in the minority, you just get kicked in the mouth every day, you know. And we’ve been kind of sat on the back bench. Now it’s time to take over, see what can be done with President (Donald) Trump.”

The election will be held November 3, 2026.
