TRUSSVILLE, Ala. (WIAT) -- From now until Christmas day, businesses say they will see a major boost in sales.

Inflation has brought prices up, but local shoppers told CBS 42 that in order to prepare for the holiday season, they have been saving all year and looking around to find the best deals.

“I usually try to start in the summertime, because there is so many to buy for,” said Monica Deason.

This weekend, CBS 42 caught up with Deason as she was toy shopping with two of her nine grandchildren. Deason prefers to shop locally at brick-and-mortar stores like Hattie’s Toyland, but as prices rise, she has begun shopping online.

“I feel bad about that because I love brick and mortar and want to support them, but sometimes the pocketbook comes first,” said Deason.

This weekend, Trussville merchants held a holiday stroll, complete with Santa and a horse drawn carriage.

“For most businesses this is their bread and butter, the holiday season, so it's very important people come out and support these businesses,” said Ashley Posey, the Owner of Tula J Boutique.

Trussville holds events throughout the Holiday season. Information can be found here.
