BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) -- Auburn and Purdue basketball have finalized a two-year series with the first meeting coming in December in Birmingham.
The two teams will play at Legacy Arena on December 21, 2024 and at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on December 20, 2025. The last time the two teams met was in 2016 with the Boilermakers taking down the Tigers, 96-71.
Purdue finished last season 34-5 and was a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. They made a run all the way to the national championship where they were defeated by the Uconn Huskies, 75-60. Auburn won the 2023-2024 SEC Tournament after crushing the Florida Gators, 86-67. They were awarded the No. 4 seed in the tournament and was upset in the first round by No. 13 seed Yale, 78-76.
The two schools have only faced off twice: once in 2000 and the other in 2016, both of which Purdue won.
