SHELBY COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) -- Young people came out full force to vote in the 2024 general election, some of them voting for the first time.
The Pollard triplets were some of those first-time voters, and they decided to take the journey of casting their ballots together.
If you have a sibling, you can probably relate to getting into arguments or disagreements with them. Not all siblings get into heated debates about politics, but that’s exactly what happens at the Pollard house.
The triplets describe themselves as best friends. When it came time to vote for their first time ever, it was a no brainer they would do it together.
“Its super exciting voting for the first time, especially alongside my best friends,” Addison Pollard said.
The three said they are all passionate about their beliefs, giving them a reason to vote.
“I would say we definitely talk it out a lot -- more of a debate than arguing,” Addison Pollard said.
CBS 42 News asked if they all voted for the same candidate. They preferred to not answer the question but gave a look into what some of their debates look like.
Pollards recognize the importance of voting,
“I feel like younger voters like us are realizing that this affects our daily lives," Jackson Pollard said. "Every single vote counts."
“Theres always going to be two sides," Addison Pollard said. "People are always going to believe different things. Just because someone believes something different than you or voted for someone different then you, it doesn’t mean they have to be your enemy."
The Pollards' high school, Oak Mountain, offers an AP Government class, which all three Pollards are in. They said it is the reason they have become so passionate about voting.
