BESSEMER, Ala. (WIAT) -- A woman killed when a train on its way from Birmingham to New Orleans hit a car earlier this week was identified Friday morning.
Bessemer Det. Justin Burmeister said the collision happened around 1:43 p.m. on October 30 at the crossing near the intersection of Caroline Avenue and 32nd Street. Burmeister confirmed that two people were ejected from the car in the crash, killing a woman and leaving one man, the driver, with serious injuries.
The Jefferson County Coroner's Office identified the woman killed as 21-year-old Claudia Mae Dreffs, of Hayden.
The circumstances surrounding the crash have not been released.
