ENSLEY, Ala. (WIAT) -- A 13-year-old who was killed in a hit-and-run in Ensley was identified Thursday morning.
On October 26, the Birmingham Police Department said shots were fired in the area of the 2400 block of Avenue D around 6:45 p.m. A car speeding away from the scene then struck a teen while he was sitting on an ATV on the 2800 block of Avenue E.
The driver, unidentified, attempted to escape on foot following the crash, but was captured and taken into custody by police a few blocks from the crash.
The victim, 13-year-old Braylen Hardy, was critically injured and taken to Children's Hospital for treatment. Hardy ultimately died from his injuries around 11:15 a.m. Tuesday.
Birmingham police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
