BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) -- A Birmingham man pleaded guilty to illegal possession of a firearm Wednesday, U.S. Attorney Prim Escalona announced Wednesday.
Traddarryl Rishad Boykins, 32, pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm. According to the plea agreement, on Jan. 29, a Homewood Police Department officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop on Boykins. Boykins then led the officers on a chase from Homewood into downtown Birmingham.
The chase ended when Boykins crashed into another vehicle at the intersection of 18th Street North and 15th Avenue North. The driver and passenger of the vehicle suffered injuries and were transported to a hospital in critical condition. Officers arrested Boykins and searched his vehicle, finding a pistol.
