MONTEVALLO, Ala. (WIAT) -- Montevallo's annual Art Stalk was held Saturday. Art Stalk is a Halloween-inspired art festival that consists of vendors lining down Montevallo's historic Main Street. The event started in 2011.
"Montevallo Main Street is proud to sponsor live music at Art Stalk every year," said Courtney Bennett, executive director of Montevallo Main Street.
In 2024, live music was provided at Owl's Cove Park by the bands DreamCatcher and Rev 45. Over 100 booths were featured at this year's Art Stalk.
One artist, Abbie Wilson, explained the inspiration behind her work.
"I've always been interested in fantasy, and I love nature," Wilson said. "But I'm allergic to most of it, so I just kind of make my own but with a fantasy twist. Also, Halloween is my favorite holiday, so I have a huge Halloween collection."
Wilson also explained how in-person events like Art Stalk allow artists to connect with each other and their customers.
"It's important for me as an artist to kind of connect with people because if I'm just selling on Etsy, then I don't actually ever get to have a conversation with people or find out what their interests are," Wilson said. "It's just nice to connect with people because of your artwork."
"Not only do events like this provide something fun for our residents to do but also people who come to visit Montevallo," Bennett said. "I think it also helps support our arts community, which is what we're known for in the area."
Here are some upcoming events in Montevallo:
- Critters by the Creek -- Oct. 27
- Fifth annual Chief's Challenge -- Oct. 29
- Hometown Halloween -- Oct. 31
- Dia de los Muertos Festival -- Nov. 2
