TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) -- Two members of the Alabama women's basketball team have earned Southeastern Conference preseason honors for the 2024-25 season, the league announced.
Alabama was picked to finish fifth in the conference by SEC basketball coaches. Sarah Ashley Barker was named as a preseason First Team All-SEC player. She started in 33 games last season, averaging 16.8 points per game. Barker scored a career-high 34 points on Jan. 28 in a win over Kentucky. She led Alabama in scoring in 19 games and surpassed 1,000 career points last season.
Aaliyah Nye was picked to finish as a second-team All-SEC member. She set the single-season program record for three-pointers made with 108 during the 2023-24 season. Nye ranked third nationally in three-point field goals and led the SEC. Her 108 three-pointers are tied for the second-most in a single season in SEC history.
The Crimson Tide face Columbus State on Oct. 30 in Coleman Coliseum.
