BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) -- The Birmingham Police Department is calling on the public for information following two deadly shootings just hours apart.

7 people are dead and 10 more are injured following shootings Saturday night at a park and a North Birmingham nightclub. Police Chief Scott Thurmond said his department is partnering with federal agencies to bring the shooters to justice.

“We will be coming for you with full force, with every piece of law enforcement we have, we will be coming for you,” said Thurmond.

The Birmingham Police Departments Strategy for responding to the violence is having every detective in the city focus on solving the two fatal shootings.

“But there is one piece that we need, we need the community to assist us with bringing justice to these families, restoring safety to our city and communities,” added Thurmond.

The department has created a QR code that allows citizens to send evidence and tips directly to detectives.

“We know someone knows something or saw something, so come forward, give credible information so we can get these shooters off our streets,” remarked Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin.

The FBI, ATF, Secret Service and U.S Attorneys’ Office joined the Birmingham Police Department at Sunday’s press conference. The agencies have partnered with the BPD to assist in the investigation.

As of now, the Birmingham Police Department has no one in custody for either shooting.
