BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Alabama workers will soon be traveling to North Carolina to assist people affected by Hurricane Helene.
The Alabama Department of Public Health will be sending a support team made up of nine people to provide assistance across North Carolina following Hurricane Helene. The team, which is made up of public health professionals, will be traveling to mass care shelters, where they will provide nursing and medical services.
The western part of North Carolina was among the worst hit in the wake of Hurricane Helene, with over 120 confirmed deaths as of Friday, as well as other who remain missing. In the wake of the hurricane, thousands were left without power for days while others had issues finding clean water and food amidst the devastation.
