HOMEWOOD, Ala. (WIAT) -- Homewood Public Library will host a free anime, manga, comic book and fandom-themed convention on Sunday, Oct. 13. The event, Homewood Mini Con, is targeted towards fourth through 12th grade students.
At this event, participants can enter a cosplay contest, play competitive video games, pick up free art made by local teens in the artists' alley, buy comics and merchandise, enjoy Japanese snacks and sing anime karaoke. Cosplay contest entries must be in by 3:15 p.m., and winners will be chosen by 3:45 p.m.
The convention will also feature a talk from local YA author Micki Janae and a short panel from the library's Comic Creators program's artists and writers.
