TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) -- Alabama football looks to bounce back Saturday at home when they take on South Carolina.
South Carolina comes to Tuscaloosa with a record of 3-2, following a loss at home to Ole Miss. The Gamecocks offense struggled to get anything going as quarterback LaNorris Sellers was 20-of-32 for 162 yards and an interception. He was also the leading rusher with 55 yards. Sellers has thrown for 555 yards on the season, two touchdowns and three interceptions. Raheim Sanders is the teams leading rusher with 315 total yards and four touchdowns.
Alabama looks to get back on track after a stunning loss a week ago Vanderbilt, 40-35. Vanderbilt dominated the time of possession, having the ball for 42:08, compared to the Tide's 17:52. Jalen Milroe finished the game 18-of-24 with 310 yards and a touchdown. Ryan Williams continued on his impressive freshman campaign catching three passes for 82 yards and a touchdown.
Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. on ABC. Here's what to look for in Tide versus Gamecocks.
How will the Alabama defense respond?
- It felt like the Alabama defense couldn't get off the field on third down versus the Commodores, with Vandy finishing 12-of-18 on third down. Diego Pavia's ability to run created serious problems for them as they couldn't stop the rushing scheme that Vandy dialed up. It'll be interesting to see how Bama attacks Sellers, as he has the same capabilities as Pavia with his ability to throw and run.
Big game for Alabama ahead of upcoming gauntlet
- Dropping the game to Vanderbilt makes the road for Alabama a lot tougher. This feels like a must win for the Crimson Tide because after this game, the Tide face three straight ranked opponents with two of those being on the road. Bama's next three games include traveling to No. 8 Tennessee, No. 21 Missouri, and No. 13 LSU at Death Valley.
Still waiting on the run game for Alabama to develop
- It felt like the Vanderbilt game would've been the time for Alabama to establish its run game. But with Vandy draining the clock on every possession and Alabama playing from the behind, the Tide had to air the ball out to score quick. Look for the Tide to turn to their offensive line, and run the ball more often than fans have seen this season.
