FORT PAYNE, Ala. (WIAT) -- A 29-year-old man was arrested after an alleged attempted child abduction, the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office announced Wednesday.
The Collinsville Police Department received calls Sunday regarding an attempted child abduction near Piggly Wiggly and Rains Court Apartments. Officers responded Tuesday to apartments on Truman Lane and determined one of the subjects matched the description of the offender from the reported attempted child abduction.
Cordell Brand, of Gadsden, was arrested and charged for illegal possession of prescription drugs and transported to the DeKalb County Detention Center. After being interviewed, it was determined he was the offender who grabbed the juvenile victim, the sheriff's office stated. He was also charged with second-degree unlawful imprisonment and is awaiting a bond hearing for that charge.
