TALLADEGA, Ala. (WIAT) — On Monday, Talledega College will host the "Barbers Against Bullets Symposium" to unite community members against gun violence.
Organized by the Agency for Substance Abuse Prevention (ASAP), the event will be held at the college's student center ballroom from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Free food will be provided to attendees.
The symposium will tackle conversations on the intersection of gun violence and substance misuse. Barber and community advocate Vic Blends will be featured as a guest speaker.
This event is part of a campaign launched by ASAP to invite prominent community members, such as athletes and barbers, to influence those most impacted by gun violence.
ASAP is a nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing the critical issues of substance misuse and its intersections with gun violence in communities across Alabama.
