BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) - The 2024 National Battle of the Bands is scheduled for August 25, and Alabama's Miles College and Tuskegee University marching bands will both be in attendance.
The National Battle of the Bands is held annually in Houston, Texas, to mark the start of the fall marching band season. Marching bands from Historically Black Colleges and Universities nationwide are invited to perform each year. Tickets are on sale now.
According to its website, the event is the largest African American event in Texas, and it has provided over $200,000 in scholarships. It has also generated a $20 million economic impact for the Houston and Harris counties.
In 2022, the National Battle of the Bands had over 55,000 attendees. Over 2,200 band members participated. The upcoming National Battle of the Bands will be held in Houston's NRG stadium.
