BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Birmingham Police Department is investigating a homicide that took place in the 1700 Block of Laurel Avenue SW Wednesday.
According to Sgt. LaQuitta Wade, officers were dispatched to the area just after 5 p.m. A person was found shot, lying in the roadway near a home at the end of the street. The victim was later pronounced dead by Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel.
Detectives believe shots were fired during an argument between the victim and the suspect, who fled the scene. There is no one in custody at this time.
