Tonight: Lower humidity in place this evening will allow for low temperatures to fall into the lower to middle 60s overnight with clear skies.

Thursday: A comfortable start to our day will turn toward a slightly muggier afternoon and warmer compared to previous days. High temperatures will reach the upper 80s with mostly sunny skies. An isolated shower is possible in the northeastern parts of our area near Gadsden and Anniston, but nearly everyone remains dry.

Looking Ahead: Our subtle warming trend continues heading toward the end of this week and upcoming weekend. Temperatures for both morning lows and daytime highs will grow slightly warmer with lower 90s expected Friday-Sunday while morning lows will return to the upper 60s and near 70° at times. Our humidity will be a tad muggier than the start to this week, but overall not too uncomfortable as heat index values remain near or under 95° through the weekend.

The weather pattern doesn’t change much for next week with mainly dry conditions and slightly warmer than average temperatures continuing into the first half of next week. Highs will return to the upper 80s with lows in the upper 60s with more sun than clouds. We’ll start to see a bit more cloud cover by midweek with possibly an afternoon shower or storm by next Wednesday. Overall, rain chances will be slim to none over the next week.

Tracking the Tropics: We’re keeping an eye on the northwestern Caribbean for possible tropical development over the next seven days. Long-range model guidance suggests this will enter a favorable environment for development and it would likely move into the Gulf of Mexico by the end of next week, so it’s something to keep an eye on for now.
