Drying out as sunshine returns

Monday: A small chance for a rain shower exists before 10 AM, then skies remain mostly cloudy and temperatures warm into the upper 70s to lower 80s.

Looking Ahead: Sunshine returns to the forecast starting on Tuesday, with the clouds and rain associated with the remnants of Francine finally begin to pull away. The remnants will become absorbed into the main flow after being cut off from the upper-level flow the past few days. This allows for an end to the gloomy and wet weather, giving us a needed time to dry out.

Temperatures will warm gradually through this week into the middle/upper 80s from mid to late week. Wednesday and Thursday should be our two warmest days and even then, nearly all of us remain below 90°. A few of our southern counties could flirt with 90°, but expect a pleasantly warm week for the majority of us. Lower humidity will get pulled in from the north by midweek, allowing for comfortable afternoons and cooler mornings. Low temperatures drop into the lower 60s by Wednesday morning, lasting into Friday and Saturday morning. Muggier air tries to creep back in here by the end of the week, but rain chances remain nearly negligible heading into next weekend.

Tracking the Tropics: Potential Tropical Cyclone Eight is currently located off the coast of the Carolinas, forecast to strengthen into a tropical storm and make landfall in South Carolina near Myrtle Beach on Monday afternoon. This storm will continue moving inland and points northward, well away from Central Alabama. Keeping us on the backside, winds will turn out of the north, helping to pull in the lower humidity mid-to-late week.
