PTC6 has become Tropical Storm Francine in the Western Gulf of Mexico with sustained winds of 50 mph.

It is forecast to become a hurricane on Tuesday and make landfall on the Central Louisiana Coast as a Category 1 hurricane on Wednesday Evening. There is a chance it could be a little stronger and be a Category 2. Fortunately, it looks like the wind shear will be increasing at landfall, and that could prevent further strengthening.

Francine will cause flooding across Louisiana with 6-12"+ rain totals. Winds will be around 85+ mph at landfall near Intracoastal City, LA.

Timing: Thursday into Friday morning.

Heavy rain: Totals 2-3" along and west of I-65.

Winds: Sustained winds of 15-25 mph with gusts of 30 mph possible mainly west of I-65.

Possible Damage: On Thursday, this could cause some trees to fall, and look for possible power outages across Western Alabama.
