Sunday: A very pleasant day of weather is expected with abundant sunshine as high temperatures only reach the lower to middle 80s. A northerly breeze will keep the lower humidity filtering into the region.

Looking Ahead: Relatively low humidity compared to typical late-Summer standards will hang around for the first half of this week, keeping us rain-free through at least Wednesday. Skies will remain mostly clear through this period and a gradual warming trend into the middle/upper 80s occurs heading into midweek. Morning low temperatures will be back in the middle 60s by Monday morning, so the shot of cooler air won’t last long.

Moving into the second half of this week, the remnants of what should soon become our next named tropical system will move inland along the Texas or Louisiana Gulf Coast. As of right now, there is strong model agreement to keep the core of the rain and gusty winds well to our west, but we will be on the warm sector of the storm system. Therefore, an increase in moisture will lead to muggier conditions and welcomed rain chances by Thursday and Friday as the system moves northward. Due to this, cooler high temperatures in the upper 70s and lower 80s can be expected once the rain arrives.

We should dry out starting on Saturday, but stay tuned throughout the week to monitor trends in the track of this system and forecast rainfall totals for central Alabama.

Tracking the Tropics: An area of low pressure is expected to form in the Gulf of Mexico over the next several days, given a high chance of developing into a tropical cyclone. Current model guidance takes this system into the Texas or Louisiana area by Wednesday before continuing inland moving north. A few more areas of weak development are possible in the open Atlantic this week, but none of these systems are currently a threat to the US.
