HOOVER, Ala. (WIAT) -- Before week two of the 2024 High School Football season begins, rewinding to the memorable and historic week one seems necessary.

The Spain Park Jaguars and the Hoover Bucs have one of the best rivalries in the state. Every year is more memorable than the last one, and this past Friday night did not disappoint.

The Jaguars made history, knocking off the Bucs in a nail biter of a ball game. Spain Park would get a crucial first down with about a minute left on the clock to then go on and score the game winner, defeating Hoover 39-37.

This was the first win for Spain Park over Hoover since 2015.

Under center for the Jaguars, Brock Bradley put up one of the best performances of his high school career.

The junior quarterback completed 18 of 25 passes for 300 yards and three scores, including throwing the game-winning touchdown to seal the victory.

Despite the Jaguars moving down a classification to 6A, the game still had a playoff atmosphere. Last season, Hoover knocked off Spain Park 28-20 to not only get a must needed away win, but to get into the postseason over Spain Park.

After the game, Bradley said that a win over their rival is great, but it was nice to finally see all their hard work from the past year start to pay off.

“Just developing all those seniors and underclassman over the summer, the hard work is starting to pay off,” Bradley said. “It’s what Coach V. is all about.”

The Junior quarterback just announced that he will continue to continue his career at the next level and committed to play at Clemson University.

Spain Park will be back in action next Friday, September 13th on the road at Helena. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
